About Us - Our History & Vision
In the early 1980s, I worked as a rental agent in a small brokerage house on the Upper East Side of New York. I learned that each broker only rented the apartments of landlords who gave them exclusive agreements. This model seemed limiting to me. I envisioned a true rental marketplace, where properties from all landlords and apartment owners throughout Manhattan would be available to apartment hunters from one, centrally located, center. By providing the greatest number of possibilities to those looking for a home, our clients would have the broadest spectrum of choice and, they would find their new home with the shortest and most efficient use of their time. This vision became my professional goal.
In 1984, Manhattan Apartments Inc. was established, with one rental listing and one agent. Today, we have a team of over 150 professionals. We cover the entire spectrum of apartments and properties for rent and for sale throughout Manhattan. From the affordable to the luxurious, furnished and unfurnished, short-term and long-term, our clients can find what they are looking for through us.
Our goal and vision has been to provide the full range of housing opportunities available in New York City. We created a virtual marketplace for NYC housing, although the actualization of "the marketplace effect" continues to be realized, to greater extent, with each passing year. From 1996, until the end of 2008, Manhattan Apartments Inc. occupied four floors of bustling offices at 57th Street and Broadway near the Columbus Circle transportation hub.
Today, we operate from an 11,000 square foot, open and dynamic loft at 49th Street and Seventh Ave. — 729 Seventh Ave. Just a few blocks north of Times Square, at the heart of New York City, more than 150 agents create a vibrant atmosphere of competitive and effective activity. The open space provides a powerful model for sharing up to the minute information — a vital component for maintaining a competitive edge and getting the best deals for our clients.
